Your coach
Hi, I'm Hayk. I'm an English National Master and competitive chess player rated over 2100 FIDE. I learned the game at five and competed in both Armenia's and England's junior circuits.
My coaching is practical and personal. We use your own games to identify what is holding you back, then build a focused plan around the positions and decisions that matter most to you.

We look at recent games to find the patterns behind lost points—not just individual blunders.
Each one-to-one session targets a clear theme through explanation, questions and practical positions.

Questions
There is no formal minimum rating. Coaching is designed for players who know the rules and are motivated to improve, from developing juniors to experienced club players.
Lessons are online. We can use a video call alongside a shared analysis board on Chess.com or Lichess, depending on what is most comfortable for you.
We discuss the student's goals, look briefly at a recent game or position, and identify useful next steps. It is also a chance for the student—and a parent, where relevant—to see whether the coaching feels right.
No. Ongoing lessons are £30 for 60 minutes and can be booked individually. We can agree a sensible frequency after the trial.
Yes. Parents are welcome to join the trial call and can receive a short overview of priorities and progress for junior students.
Recent games are the most useful starting point. A Chess.com or Lichess username, PGN files, or links to tournament games all work well.
Free 30-minute trial
Share a little about the student and what they want to improve. I'll reply by email to arrange a suitable time.
For junior players: a parent or guardian should submit the enquiry and is welcome to join the trial call.
